By now most of you have probably either seen or read about Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty Vol 2 fashion show that showcased starting October this year and is available on Amazon Prime, among her first fashion show from 2019. This year, due to the Covid-19 virus the multi-artist Robyn, known by her stage name Rihanna had to use alternative approaches, as the traditional runway setting was not possible, so she among many other artists and fashion houses had to think outside of the box, while still staying true to their brands' aesthetics and vision.

Her first debut runway in 2019 Rihanna’s runway was showcased as a theatre performance, where all models were part of a bigger production and were dependent on each other. Rihanna herself took part in the show, in the first act where she showed off her serial dancing skills. Everything was planned out down to every second, all the lights, model and artists entrees, camera angles, music coordination, etc. was timed perfectly in front of a live audience. I cannot imagine how long they practiced achieving such perfection.
Rihanna used her vision and platform to create a new world of possibilities, that are non-binary to what is already known and seen as acceptable within the industry. Her vision of making lingerie for everyone is based on “looking for unique characteristics in people, are not usually highlighted in the world of fashion” as Rihanna states herself at the beginning of the documentary.
In vol 1. You follow the process of requiting and finding the models and dancers to participate in the runway, regardless of matter size, age, or color, or any other appearance factors, that usually dominate within the industry to determine whatever you get the job or not. This runway was about celebrating diversity in an industry, that does not even understand the word diversity.

The premise of the lingerie is that; no one’s perception of your body should not determine whatever you feel sexy or not, and Rihanna wants everyone to feel sexy and empowered. CAN I GET AN AMEN? Rihanna never seems to disappoint, wherever she is doing movies, music, modeling, or even designing clothes and lingerie. She stays true to herself and does not compromise on what she believes and wants to achieve.
Recently Rihanna has pleased us with another revolutionary approach to the runway as we know it. Opposite of her first show, she divided this runway into smaller scenes and scenarios with every camera angle and every turn had a new vibe and division into multiple music videos in one and combined told story of Savage X Fenty. Without spoiling too much both shows are packed with famous artists, actors, models, dancers, and tv personalities. But to name a few Big Sean, ASAP Ferg, Migos, 21 Savage, Fat Joe, Gigi and Bella, Hadid, Demi More, Paris Hilton, Laverne Cox, Slick woods, Indya Moore, Jaida Essence Hall, and Irina Shayk ( Victoria’s Secret legend, which is kind of funny as Savage x Fenty is the complete opposite).
I have seen both of the shows multiple times, as her innovative way of showcasing beautiful clothing while addressing some of the biggest issues in the fashion industry, besides the sustainability issue, being the lack of diversity seen in different media forms within the industry. But back to the point, even my boyfriend and his friends enjoyed both of the shows featuring beautiful women in lingerie….. and now that I say it out loud it accrues to me that it may not be for the same reasons as me. However, it proves my point of the brand is being multi-purposing and engaging in a wide audience and no specific target audience, no matter gender, size, or race. Everyone deserves to feel sexy and Rihanna is here to make sure of that.
